#Bell let’s talk

Disclaimer: normal blog post will resume next week, I’ve been really busy the past couple of weeks

Today is a very important day to me. It’s bell let talk day. A day were all  text, tweets and long distance phone calls with the Bell phone company donate 5cents to mental health awareness.

Although I don’t talk about it often, for the past 5 years I’ve been struggling with anxiety and depression. I’ve come a very long way from not being able to go to work to having 2 interview in 2 weeks and not having a panic attack. Of course there are still hard days where all I want to do is sleep because my body is constantly in a fight or flight state. I have a really strong support system and I know that it is not always easy for them.

Bell let’s talk day helps raise money to end the stigma around mental health. When I was first figuring out all my anxiety issues I had a really hard time getting my friends to understand, we were young and it was the first time anything like this had ever happened to any of us. Now I’m free to talk about my fears and anxieties without being judged and that what I want all people dealing with mental health to feel. So if you are Canadian and you have a Bell phone, turn off your iMessages and turn on your texts for the day. Call that aunt you haven’t talked to in a year who lives in the UK, and tweet like you’ve never tweeted before! Let’s end the stigma together!
